Kalshi vs FanDuel
FanDuel is one of the two largest US sportsbooks, licensed state by state, where you bet against the house at the book's odds. Kalshi is a federally regulated exchange where NFL outcomes trade as contracts between users. Here is how the two compare on the things that actually affect your return.
Kalshi vs FanDuel, side by side
*Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated exchange, not a state sportsbook; its sports event contracts face legal challenges in some states. Confirm availability for your location before funding.
Pricing and cost
FanDuel makes much of its margin on parlays, where the hold stacks with each leg, but even a single -110 line carries roughly a 4.5% built-in edge for the book. Kalshi's exchange fee is far thinner because the price is set by supply and demand between traders, not by a book protecting a margin. If you trade often, the cost difference is the single biggest lever on your bottom line.
Where you can use each
FanDuel operates only where it is licensed, roughly three dozen states in 2026, so bettors in California, Texas, and other large non-legal states are shut out. Kalshi, regulated by the CFTC as an exchange, has reached those markets because it is not a state-licensed sportsbook. The important caveat: Kalshi's sports event contracts face active legal challenges in several states, so check whether they are available where you are before depositing.
How the NFL trade actually differs
FanDuel is built around fixed-odds bets and same-game parlays: you lock in a price and the ticket is settled at the final result, with an optional cash-out the book prices for you. Kalshi works the other way, you buy Yes or No shares at a live probability and can sell them back at any time. There is no parlay multiplier, but there is something a parlay cannot give you: the ability to manage and exit each position as the market moves.
Which should you pick?
Choose FanDuel if same-game parlays and a slick app matter most and you are in a licensed state. Choose Kalshi if you want a better effective price, the freedom to trade in and out of NFL positions, or access from a state where sportsbooks cannot operate. You can read the current Kalshi market on our live Super Bowl odds page before committing either way.
Right now the Kalshi market makes the Los Angeles Rams the Super Bowl favorite at 14.9% implied (+571). Compare all 32 teams on our live Super Bowl odds, or start with the Kalshi promo code FADE offer for new traders.
Frequently asked
Is Kalshi or FanDuel better value for NFL trading?
On straight markets Kalshi usually offers a better effective price, because its thin exchange fee undercuts the roughly 4.5% hold in a standard sportsbook line. FanDuel's edge is parlays and promotions, not price.
Does Kalshi have same-game parlays like FanDuel?
No. Kalshi trades individual event contracts rather than parlays. Instead of stacking legs for a bigger multiplier, you take and manage single positions you can sell back to the market at any time.
Can I use Kalshi if FanDuel is not available in my state?
Frequently, yes. Kalshi is a federally regulated exchange, not a state-licensed sportsbook, so it has operated in states FanDuel cannot reach. Its sports contracts are contested in some states, so confirm availability for your location.
